Ann Smith. Daisy Maiden. Hester Greer. Dondeena Caldwell. Who are these women? What have they done? Why should we know about their stories?
All of these women, and others, are women that God has used mightily in ministering the gospel and expanding the Kingdom of God. A Thread of Hope tells the stories of 10 women of faith and vision from the Church of God Reformation Movement. These women proclaimed the gospel providing leadership and acting as role models for the church. As Mary Ann Hawkins (co-editor) states in the Introduction:
Women missionaries in the Church of God (Anderson) are like a golden thread of hope in a pastoral tapestry, shining through in the most unexpected places. Since the earliest days of the Church of God, women have been involved in God's mission of reconciliation, a ministry that has presented more than a few hurdles. Yet, undaunted, they have pressed forward - turning up in some of the most unexpected places on earth.
Serving in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the United States, each of these women serve as an encouragement to women - both to those already serving and to those sensing that God may be calling them to move out in a new avenue of ministry.
